The final presentation assignment is an opportunity for you to focus on a single theory from this semester and share it with the class in a creative way.

There is a lot of flexibility in the format for this presentation and I have listed options below.

If you have another idea for how to present on your theory you can talk to me and get approval.

General Requirements:

• Choose one theory from the semester to focus on. There are over 40 theories throughout the textbook so don't be afraid to go back to the early chapters
• Each presentation, no matter the format, should be 5-7 minutes long.
• Based on the option you choose, you will either record yourself giving the presentation or produce a creative video. This video needs to be uploaded to the class discussion board so that your peers can see it and respond.

◦ In addition to sharing the video on the discussion board, you also need to submit all materials to this assignment page for a separate grade.

• Outlines and/or handouts should be a minimum of 300 words.
• You must include a References page to cite any definitions, quotes, or material that is not your own. You can choose between MLA or APA format for the citation style, just make sure you are consistent.

Option 1:
Mini-lecture Presentation

• Create a mini-lecture about your assigned theory and record yourself presenting it.

◦ Review the main ideas and key terms about this theory.
◦ Pick an example from the media, news, books, or popular culture to explain your theory.

• NO MORE than 10 slides. Limit the amount of text on each slide and make it visually interesting.
• In addition to the recorded presentation, you need to submit a full-sentence outline (minimum 300 words) with your talking points / script. You should not just be reading completely off your slides during the presentation.

Option 2:
Research Article Summary

• Find a research article from a peer-reviewed journal that uses your assigned theory.
• Record yourself presenting about the article and how the author applied this theory to a specific context or set of data.
• You do not need to have slides, but if you choose to create a slide deck it should have NO MORE than 10 slides. Limit the amount of text on each slide and make it visually interesting.
• In addition to recording yourself giving the presentation, you need to submit a full-sentence outline (minimum 300 words) with your talking points / script.

Option 3:
Short Video

• Film a creative video about your theory that incorporates both visual images, examples, and explanations. You do not have to be on camera at any point, you can narrate behind the scenes. Your film should not just be a recorded lecture slideshow. Think outside the box by interviewing people, creating scenarios, or incorporating other media.
• Along with the video, you need to submit a full-sentence outline (minimum 300 words) that shows the planning process behind the video and the ideas / theory elements you incorporated.

Option 4:
Podcast episode

• Create a mini-podcast episode where you talk about your theory using a creative theme or format. For example, you could have an interview participant, compare the theory to a real-world scenario, or create a quiz show. It should NOT just be a recording of only you talking for 5 minutes straight. Try to make it engaging with segments or features to keep the listener engaged.
• Along with the audio file, you need to submit a full-sentence outline (minimum 300 words) with your talking points / script.
