    Lead Teacher Position at Old Colony Y



    Job Summary:


    The Lead Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing engaging activities to ensure the safety and well-being of each child, providing enriching experiences and learning opportunities. Upholding the employee code of conduct is crucial, as well as reflecting the mission of the Old Colony Y and the regulating agency. Demonstrating qualities such as caring, responsibility, honesty, and respect is essential in carrying out job duties.


    Job Functions:

    • Understand and uphold EEC regulations, NAEYC standards, and Old Colony Y policies.
    • Plan and implement curriculum while considering individual children's needs, interests, and talents.
    • Lead daily activities and maintain a conducive learning environment.
    • Oversee children in all program settings and trips.
    • Complete necessary documentation and maintain attendance records.
    • Contribute to staff scheduling and family strengthening efforts.
    • Act as a positive role model and ensure adherence to policies.
    • Supervise and engage in training programs and professional growth.
    • Participate in meetings and provide input for performance evaluations.

    Supervision of Personnel:

    • Facilitate staff meetings and training sessions to ensure work plans are followed.
    • Attend required training and childcare meetings.

    Fiscal Responsibilities:

    • Manage supply purchases and fundraising events.
    • Ensure maximum enrollment and compliance with fiscal policies.

    Facility/Housekeeping Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a safe and organized program space.
    • Report facility issues promptly.

    Volunteer/Committee/Inter-divisional Assignment Responsibilities:

    • Participate in committees and Y programs.
    • Attend childcare training sessions regularly.

    • Demonstrate operational efficiency and strive for personal growth.


    Requirements:
    • Minimum 21 years old.
    • Meet EEC requirements for Lead Teacher.
    • Associate/Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
    • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.
    • Physical examination proof within the last 12 months.
    • Immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella.
    • Ability to create a culture of excellence and work well in a team.
    • Capability to lift heavy equipment and cleaning duties.
    • Flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, and weekends.
    • Strong oral communication skills for public speaking.
    • Ability to handle physical demands and understand Y-USA's focus areas.
