Under the direction of EMG's Environmental Construction Compliance Manager, this position will primarily be responsible for the implementation of environmental requirements to protect natural and cultural resources and minimize impacts on communities during construction of water, wastewater and power projects like new, and/or improvements to, pipelines, tunnels, powerlines, valve house, pump stations, treatment plants, reservoirs and dams.

This position will be based out of the SFPUC's offices in Moccasin in Tuolumne County, California and will focus on projects in the eastern portion of the SFPUC's service area, including in San Joaquin and Tuolumne Counties.

Projects will occur in agricultural areas, watershed land, and other natural environments that will require working in remote settings, including hiking and/or driving to remote locations on unimproved dirt roads (SFPUC vehicles available).


Essential Functions:


  • Collects data, performs field investigations and inspections, and writes reports on the implementation of environmental requirements during construction (e.g., related to biological resources, waters and wetlands, stormwater management, cultural resources, dust control monitoring, noise monitoring).
  • Prepares tables, maps, charts, photographs, and other graphic presentations to track, document, and illustrate the status of implementation of the environmental requirements during construction.
  • Attends meetings with various SFPUC departments, as well as construction management teams, contractors, and permitting agencies, takes notes and prepares summary reports.
  • Answers inquiries, provides training, and interprets and explains environmental requirements to SFPUC staff, construction management teams, and contractors through clear oral and written communications.
  • Assists with solving project challenges through collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • May manage consultant task orders and direct consultants in performing surveys, monitoring, reporting, and preparing technical plans (e.g., stormwater management plans).
Class 5278 performs other related duties as required.


Qualifications Minimum
Qualifications:


  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years (4,000 hours) verifiable fulltimeequivalent experience in city, regional, urban or transportation planning, urban design, historic preservation, architectural or environmental review or other related field; OR
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in City, Regional, or Urban Planning, or a closely related field such as Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, Urban Studies, Public Administration, Physical Sciences, Historic Preservation, or Environmental Studies AND one (1) year (2,000 hours) verifiable fulltimeequivalent experience in city, regional, urban or transportation planning, urban design, historic preservation, architectural or environmental review or other related field; OR
  • Possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in City, Regional, or Urban Planning, or a closely related field such as Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Geography, Urban Studies, or Environmental Studies.
