Description

Position Summary:

Provides technical support to direct manufacturing activities for existing molding processes and all pre-production mold sampling.


Responsible for generation of first/last piece, measured against customer expectation and legacy samples, and to diagnose production molding problems during shift and correct to insure all production pieces do the same.


Responsible for insuring the resin to color and/or resin to regrind ratios are correct and for insuring that production runs are to or exceed established standards.


Responsible for insuring that all primary and ancillary equipment is running efficiently to support production goals and standards on their shift.


Assists management and co-workers to maximize productivity, safety, quality, team building, trouble-shooting and maintenance through his/her expertise in a given job function.

Support all shifts as needed.


Principal Duties:


  • Ensure that all products are manufactured in accordance with customer specifications and approved processes.
  • Performs quality control checks to ensure the customers' requirements are met.
  • Act with a high sense of urgency, in particular with respect to customer needs.
  • Maintain technical log for product/processes assigned, as required.
  • Troubleshoot molding process and correct where deviant. Adjust systems where applicable.
  • Troubleshoot robotic unloading; provide enhancements to increase robot system efficiency and performance.
  • Enhance the process to increase cycle efficiency, press performance, tool performance, operator performance, and material performance.
  • Troubleshoot issues with secondary equipment (post molding assembly)
  • Provide technical instructions to maintain part stability.
  • Provide detailed and structured documentation of process corrections and enhancements as required and/or assigned.
  • Measure outputs and evaluate process control and capability.
  • Troubleshoot out of control conditions, machine deficiencies and product non-conformities
  • Responsible for new mold start up, sampling, process trouble shooting, optimizing cycles and set-ups as well as performing molding and machine safety checks.
  • Assist with mold/color changes.
  • Develop process improvements through employee involvement and support all plant continuous improvement efforts as assigned.
  • Establishes and fosters correct GMP, good housekeeping and safety habits and maintains a clean and safe working environment to meet or exceed the customer's specifications.
  • Develops Jr. Process Technicians skills to increase level of knowledge to perform all functions and technical aspects of Process Technician position.

Hour of work:
Based on the need of the company.

Training will be on 1st shift, however once training is complete, trainee will be placed where is needed.**
Overtime: only if approved in advance by Senior Management.

Hours of work may be revised in the future to support production efficiencies


Physical Requirements:


  • Exhibit mechanical dexterity to perform routine set-ups, repairs, and adjustments to machinery.
  • Routinely lift machine parts and items weighing up to50 lbs.
  • Perform lifting functions up to 100 lbs. (machine parts, maneuvering heads, etc.)
  • Exhibit close tolerance strength such as loosening and tightening bolts in narrow spaces.
  • Good vision (correctable to 20/20) to set-up and monitor manufacturing process and machine troubleshooting.
  • Ability to work while standing for long periods of time (4 hours straight).
  • Ability to fulfill overtime and call-in requirements, as needed, to complete tasks on time and support all shifts.
  • Ability to work in an environment with rapidly moving equipment and to tolerate noise and dust level associated with such equipment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, crouch, bend, twist, bilaterally use hands (with a fine degree of more skills) and arms, climb, talk and hear.

Mental Requirement:


  • Exhibit mechanical comprehension.
  • Ability to read and write at a level such that he/she can comprehend the company manuals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend change instructions, order specifications, and machine manuals.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to handle stress associated with meeting deadlines (minimum machine downtime, etc.)
  • Ability to interact and get along with co-workers.

Education and Experience:

A high school degree (or equivalent) is required, with an advanced technical degree a plus. Five (5) years minimum experience with continuous extrusion shuttle blow molding machines (i.e. Fischer, Bekum, or equivalent) along with machine repair background. Experience
