- Student Support and Advocacy:
- Manage a caseload of 17-25 students, providing regular support to assess progress and address barriers to success.
- Employ trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing techniques to facilitate student wellness and program achievements.
- Collaborate with students to set and achieve personal goals aligned with Mission Academy Outcomes, such as spiritual growth, recovery, job training, housing acquisition, and building support networks.
- Refer students to appropriate internal and external resources, including mental health services, legal aid, and housing support.
- Enhance students' skills in problem-solving, coping, and self-management.
- Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain detailed student case notes and documentation in line with training and organizational standards.
- Secure and manage additional student information as needed, such as employment or medical records.
- Issue program passes and guide students in adhering to program guidelines and expectations.
- Spiritual Leadership:
- Act as the primary spiritual guide for students, providing counseling, prayer, and guidance towards holistic development.
- Facilitate connections to faith communities and assess ongoing participation in discipleship programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Development, Ministry, or a related field from an accredited institution. Master of Social Work (MSW) preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience working with individuals facing homelessness, addiction, mental illness, or dual diagnoses. Nonprofit experience is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and make informed decisions
- Attention to detail with strong prioritization and communication skills
- Commitment to learning and teamwork.
- Must be capable of providing public information and maintaining regular, punctual attendance.

In our programs, we create a holistic approach to recovery and rehabilitation while ensuring that our building is a safe haven for men, women and children who have experienced homelessness.
The Lighthouse in National City is seeking a dedicated Program Advocate to join our team. This role is pivotal in supporting, advocating, and leading our students towards successful completion or transition of our programs. Advocates report to their Associate Director and are integral to both their specific program teams and the Mission's overarching goals.

Drug Screen Disclaimer
