Description

The Technical Writer will collaborate with the DCSC, developers, designers, and other cross-functional teams to produce comprehensive and user-friendly documentation.

Provides support to the DCSC in building brand identity and online presence utilizing the internet and extranet components of the website, and/or building an entirely new website for the Defense Health Agency.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Requires understanding of and expertise with the Military Health System (MHS) and Defense Health Agency (DHA).

Develops clear and concise technical documentation for various aspects of website development, including APIs, frameworks, libraries, and tools.


Creates user guides and tutorials to help both novice and experienced users understand and effectively use our web development products and services.

Creates clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.

Ensures that documentation aligns with user needs and is accessible to a diverse audience.


Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.

Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.


Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers.

Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and Human Resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Technical Communication, Computer Science, Cybersecurity) and Five to Seven (5-7) years of proven experience as a Technical Writer with a focus on security documentation and website development.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Must possess and maintain a current Secret security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.

Security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM) are desired.


JOB SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and website deployment processes.

Familiarity with information security concepts, best practices, and standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to organize complex information into clear, concise documentation.

Must be detail-orientated.


Ability to work independently or in a team environment with flexibility, willingness, and desire to pitch in wherever needed to support the DCSC and client.


LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent command of the English language. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
