    Job Description:
    The Courtroom Clerk (Deputy Clerk III )will be in the criminal division which shall include courtroom. Must be able to work up under stress. This position is responsible for providing initially criminal court administration assistance to judges, attorneys, defendants, and court personnel.

    This class is responsible preparing all necessary paperwork to reflect judges orders whether in criminal or if necessary civil proceedings.

    This will allow our criminal and assistant supervisors to manage effectively, efficiently for the Clerks office, and have back up which will allow continuation to operate seamlessly with confidence and security.

    Deputy Clerk III must multitask and prioritize in order to be able to start and stop what they are doing.

    The Courtroom Clerk (Deputy Clerk III ) must have extensive knowledge preferably circuit court experience but will train having prior general or juvenile domestic courtroom experience.

    The Courtroom Clerk (Deputy Clerk III ) duties involve entering various data and information into state computer systems including case entry (which must be precise with certifying cases from Juvenile Domestic and Relations and General District Court appeals); handling indictments and audit; researching guidelines; and composing and typing a variety of routine documents.

    This job involves organizing and maintaining departmental records and updating the case management and financial management systems.

    The incumbent will also document authentication of legal documents through the certification process as well as accurately prepare, gather, and organize all required judicial paperwork in accordance with appropriate policies and statutory regulations.

    Performs job duties at an advanced level based on prior knowledge and experience. Must understand capias process when receiving and examining defendants paperwork. Will coordinate court docket activities for arraignment hearings. Will coordinate with court reporter and defendants, and handle witnesss oaths. Must transcribe swiftly and accurately judges orders.

    Must be able review and examine violations working with other agencies (e.g., Probation and Parole) for accuracy, and precisely catalogue evidence to ensure chain of custody.

    Position operates photocopy equipment, cashier registers, bar code scanners, document scanners, imaging stations, and/or record indexing and verifying stations. Handles receipt fees, taxes, fines, restitution, and responsible for loading court costs for various court matters into state systems.

    Customer service is essential and expected, including responding to our customers questions by email, telephone, and via the front counter.

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT :
    Requires a bachelors degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field

    EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT :
    In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this class requires a minimum of four years of related, full-time equivalent experience

    Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Criminal court division and courtroom with 3 to 4 years of combined experience preferredHas the ability to accurately perform and pay attention to details, including managing competing priorities.

    Preferred experience with certifying case entry with JDR and GDC appeals, direct indictments and audit.
    Proficient in all Microsoft and Excel TechnologyAbility to draft legal documentsExperienced in handling confidential paperworkExceptional customer-relations backgroundExperience in coordinating with team staff members
