Director, Music Programs, Hartt Community Division


Job Description:


Assumes responsibility for all aspects of the daily operations of The Hartt Community Division (HCD) Music Programs, including the general oversight, administration, evaluation and continuous improvement of all music programs.

Performs all duties in full support of the University's mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University's students.

Description of Key Responsibility:

Provides leadership in the administration, supervision and evaluation of HCD music programs and specific staff to ensure they meet the mission of the HCD as well as The Hartt School.

Manages all aspects of both on-campus and satellite/outreach operations of the HCD music programs.


Description of Key Responsibility:

Acts as the primary liaison to HCD music faculty, staff, parents and students in an effort to ensure quality customer service.

Establishes, cultivates and maintains effective working relationships with satellite school/outreach coordinators in public and private schools as well as community organizations.


Description of Key Responsibility:
Develops, reviews and proposes all HCD music program budgets in consultation with the Director of HCD. Handles highly sensitive information with confidentiality and tact. Manages the HCD music programs within the framework of an approved balanced budget.


Description of Key Responsibility:

Collaborates with the Director of HCD in the development of policies, procedures and written correspondence which aid in the management of all HCD activities and programs.

Collaborates with the HCD Registrar/Data Manager to maintain HCDs data management system to ensure the integrity of the data. Collaborates with HCD staff on Music Department marketing strategy.


Description of Key Responsibility:
Performs other related duties as assigned.


Formal Education:

Bachelors degree required, Masters degree in Music is preferred or experience in music or arts administration.


Work Experience:

Normal office situation. Requires travel, including overnight stays.
