Erie Neighborhood House, a progressive social service agency serving the Chicago metropolitan area and dedicated to promoting a just and inclusive society, is seeking a full time Workforce Development Program Manager.

The primary goals of the workforce development program are to coordinate its Pathways to Success (PTS) Program and amplify workforce opportunities through creative partnerships.

PTS is the agency's Bridge Program, designed to link youth and adults with barriers, including limited English and/or work skills, to high quality training programs administered by non-profits, community colleges or proprietary schools.

The Workforce Development Program Manager serves as a member of the agency's management team.


The Workforce Development Program Manager (Full-Time) will be a position in partnership with the department of Community Resources and Education directly impacting Chicago's low-income and immigrant families.

Reporting to the Director of Community Resource & Education, the Workforce Development Program Manager's basic function is being responsible for the general management of the department, ensuring compliance with program and funding requirements, program development, personnel supervision, and assisting with securing resources.


  • Provides high quality management and develops ambitious program goals for workforce development program
  • Oversees PTS program planning, development, implementation and evaluation while working to expand offerings
  • Defines objectives, indicators, & outcomes with Director of Community Resource & Education to ensure program success
  • Responsible for the collection, analysis, and timely reporting of program data on an ongoing basis to share with the Director of Community Resource & Education, funders, and external partners
  • Works with the Development department to prepare and submit proposals and reports
  • Works closely with staff to enhance training curriculum, as needed, to keep up with industry requirements
  • Coordinates program recruitment, enrollment, retention, and placement in training programs
  • Develops relationships with job training program providers and other partners to explore partnership possibilities including external boards, committees, and initiatives, including employer engagement and partnerships
  • Develops relationships with business partners and employers
  • Provides job counseling, case management and referrals to job seekers
  • Coaches clients with resume writing, interview skills, etc., and escort them to prospective employers, if necessary.
  • Manages program budget, with Director of Community Resource & Education, and provides recommendations to stay in compliance with agency guidelines, funder requirements, and to encourage a balanced budget
  • Plans participant and community events and coordinates publicity in coordination with Erie's Development and Communications Department
  • Collaborates with other adult programs and departments to enhance programming, internal and external
  • Attends Manager meetings, All-Staff meetings, funder meetings, and other meetings, as assigned
  • Attends professional development applicable to field and population being served on an ongoing basis
  • Other duties as reasonable and appropriate
Travel - occasional travels for program events and meetings


Requirements:


  • Minimum of 3years of experience in workforce development programs, adult education, vocational training or related programs in nonprofit organizations
  • At least 2years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work or related field preferred
  • Excellent written and interpersonal skills with fluency in both English and Spanish
  • Ability to work flexible hours, if needed (evening and weekend hours)
  • Demonstrated commitment to adult education, vocational training, and life skills development
  • Experience working with immigrant communities and adult learners
  • Commitment to social justice and sensitivity to the assets and challenges of a diverse group of participants
