POSITION OVERVIEW

  • The Partnership for Public Service is seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Vice President (VP) for Modernizing Government, a key member of the Partnership's senior leadership team. The Partnership's VP for modernizing government oversees a portfolio that aims to strengthen federal organizational performance; crossagency collaboration; and the systems, structures, and processes that support mission delivery specifically leveraging data, new technologies and ensuring customercentric service delivery. The VP will lead efforts to recruit modern talent in government, provide development and leadership training that encourages innovation, and helps leaders use data in evidencebased ways that improve trust in government.
The VP for modernizing government will lead three portfolios of work:
Customer Experience, Technology and Innovation, and our new Center for Federal AI.


Over the next five years the Center for Federal AI will focus on developing federal AI leaders, strengthening federal AI talent capacity, and empowering community learning and AI literacy.

The VP for modernizing government will oversee the Center and help develop resources, host convenings and build intergovernmental and cross-sector communities to share best practices, identify common challenges and inspire problem
- solving around trustworthy use of AI for equitable and effective government service.


In addition, the VP plays a key role in attracting, developing and retaining talent with varying levels of experience, inspiring them to learn about the challenges and opportunities facing federal workers and institutions.

The VP also serves as a key relationship builder with a range of people, from our government partners and the good-government community to corporate organizations and private citizens who care deeply about the Partnership's mission.

Finally, as a senior leadership team member, the VP will be a member of the Partnership Management Team, and work collaboratively across the organization to further the Partnership's strategic goals and initiatives, including its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategically shape, oversee and expand the Partnership's modern government portfolio, identifying new programming opportunities, potential areas for growth and possible funding strategies.
  • Lead an approx. 510 person team to address topics relevant to improving how the government functions through programming, convenings and product development.
  • Provide general guidance and oversight for the Center for Federal AI, which executes programs across the Partnership's lines of business.
  • Advance the Partnership's technology and innovation strategy, AI strategy and customer experience strategy to improve the government's ability to employ modern ways of working.
  • Directly supervise and develop team members, providing them regular, clear, and actionable performance feedback and opportunities for professional development.
  • Manage budgets, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and on time.
  • As appropriate, serve as an organizational spokesperson, through media or presentations, on the results of the Partnership's modern government work.
  • Work with other Partnership leadership training and advocacy teams to translate analytic findings into action, helping to develop content for legislative briefings, position papers and articles, as well as curriculum.
  • Forge a productive and effective relationship with the Communications team to deliver thoughtfully developed, integrated, impactful and technically sound products.
  • Build and manage relationships with government officials, corporate partners and other experts to ensure the successful design and implementation of projects; in tandem with others, assist in building new relationships to support Partnership activities.
