Training as a Materials Tester 2024 (m|w|d)

Tasks:

  • Mechanical, technological, physical, and metallographic testing of metallic materials
  • Creation of damage analyses, quality monitoring of products (working with microscopes, ultrasound and X-ray testing equipment)
  • Participation in research and development, particularly in application technology
Training content & structure:
  • Initially, trainees will be familiarized with the basics of material processing and handling
  • The focus of material testing includes activities such as tensile tests, hardness tests, roughness measurements, rolling tests, annealing tests, preparation of metallographic samples, as well as work with microscopes, photography, and scanning electron microscopy
  • In addition, trainees will learn the basics of physical measurement
  • All tests are based on standardization, which is available in German or English
  • The training lasts 3.5 years, takes place at the locations Werdohl, Altena, and Unna, and ends with the final exam before the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK)
