Parks & Recreation Head Swimming Coach

The Town of Medway's Parks and Recreation department is looking for an experienced, patient, knowledgeable, and energetic staff member to serve as the Head Swim Coach Director for the Medway/Millis Summer Swim Team.

Responsibilities

• Attending all practices and swim meets. Practices are typically 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and meets are held on Tuesday/Thursday evenings.
• Coordinate and supervise swim team evaluations, dualmeets, and assist in the coordination of a league championship meet and awards banquet at the conclusion of the season.
• Organize and conduct swim team practices with ageappropriate workouts including an emphasis on technique, stroke development, drills, and endurancefitness, in a fun and safe environment.
• Manage and mentor assistant coaches. Display characteristics of a social role model for all swimmers as well as assistant coaches.
• Communicate successfully with parents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Must be age 18 or older.
• Experience working with competitive swimming required.
• CPR and first aid certification required.
• Lifeguard certification is required, Water Safety Instructor preferred.

Supervision

• Provides direct supervision of Assistant Coaches.
• Reports to the Parks & Recreation Director

Environment
The environment requires constant movement around and involvement with swimmers. Moderate physical effort is generally required involving occasional lifting/moving/pushing up to 30-60 pounds. Frequently requires 5+ hours of standing and/or walking.
