Help Desk Support Technician Job Description:
_


Provides technical and operational support for the operation and administration of the site and lab computing infrastructure including switches, routers, databases, thin-clients, and domain servers.

Background working in a Linux and Microsoft Windows environment. Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.

Help Desk Support Technician Required Skills:
_


  • Troubleshoot issues and outages.
  • Respond to requests and tickets to the helpdesk.
  • Install and configure servers and workstations.
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting computer and network equipment.
  • Setting up administrator and service accounts.
  • Interacts with system users.
  • Coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
  • Able to support and maintain a lab environment including maintenance and upkeep of hardware and the installation and/or upgrading of system software.
  • Able to work under general supervision and communicate clearly with both peers and superiors.
  • Able to plan and follow schedules with little oversight or direction.
  • Effectively communicate both orally and in written form, possess excellent organizational and reporting abilities.
  • Be team oriented, energetic, and possess a friendly personality.

Help Desk Support Technician Desired Skills:
_


  • Experience troubleshooting and/or configuring Linux servers to include scripting.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Familiarity with configuring VMs (Virtualization).

Help Desk Support Technician Additional Requirements:
_


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education.
  • Willingness to work overtime and off shift when dictated to support business needs
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
