Currently,
ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented
Communications Security (COMSEC) Manager
as part of our COMSEC Operations and Maintenance team in the Washington D.C.** area.

This position is fully on-site.


Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Be responsible for day-to-day operations of COMSEC activities to provide end-to-end support of cryptographic devices and functions
  • Perform operations from a central location for a disperse enterprise customer base
  • Track COMSEC requirements, ensuring implementation of approved processes, providing coordination of task/activation/deactivation of all equipment, status monitoring and reporting, receiving COMSEC devices into the controlled cryptographic items (CCI) inventory, barcoding of new COMSEC devices, power testing of COMSEC devices received, and destruction of equipment as required
  • Track warranty information for all CCI inventory items, providing monthly and adhoc status reports and performing initial configuration of cryptographic devices prior to deployment to field locations
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and support to all voice cryptographic endpoints
  • Conduct COMSEC account management and COMSEC inspection of all government owned cryptographic voice devices
  • Initiate, generate key, order, test and verify keys; load key fill devices with appropriate keying material for operational use
  • Deliver, account, document and perform key destruction in accordance with customer guidelines
  • Coordinate equipment requirements with cryptographic vendors to repair, demilitarize, and dispose of obsolete and excess cryptographic equipment
  • Conduct semiannual inventory of all government physical COMSEC material
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves customers services issues using ticketing system and administration toolsets
  • Provides advice and training to endusers
  • Participates in testing and deployment of new technologies
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
  • Requires 20% travel

Basic Qualifications:


  • 8 years of relevant communications security experience

Preferred Qualifications:


  • COMSEC management experience within FBI or DOJ entity
  • Experience with administration of Key Management Infrastructure, CARDS or Local Management Device/Key Processor
  • Experience developing training plans and concept of operation documentation
  • Knowledge of ServiceNow or similar ticketing system
  • Experience in deployment and/or support of personal electronic device (laptops, tablets, iPhones)
  • Willingness to learn new technologies to support other service areas

Education Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited College or University.
  • A Bachelor's degree can be substituted for an Associate's degree and an additional 4+ years of experience

Clearance Requirements:


  • TS/SCI security clearance with ability to pass CI polygraph is required for this position

Physical Requirements:


  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing/walking/Talking and must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one work site to another.
  • Constantly positions self to maintain computers in the lab, including under the desks and in the server closet
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer
  • Must be able to detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, & Assess
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with coworkers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
