SUMMARY:

Provide preventative and investigative security services for students, staff, and visitors of the University. Maintain safety and security of the University community. This position reports to the Director of Safety and Protection.


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Maintain Security and Safety
  • Enforce criminal and parking laws and administrative regulations
  • Knowledge of criminal and traffic laws and administration regulations
  • Internal/external, walking and driving patrols of campus and facilities
  • Escort students, faculty, and staff as required
  • Lock and secure buildings
  • Prepare written incident reports and maintain activity logs
  • Demonstrate timeliness and thoroughness in completing rounds
  • Provide Emergency Services as Required

Crisis intervention

  • Demonstrates knowledge and training in emergency situations.
  • Provides First Aid assistance as needed.

Customer Service

  • Provide information/direction to students, faculty, staff and visitors
  • Demonstrate cooperation / teamwork in carrying out assignments

Job Requirements:

Minimum Requirements**:

  • Excellent report writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good judgments skills and ability to remain calm in situations / crisis
  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended time periods
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures
  • CPR and First Aid training helpful
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Requirements:

Prior Security experience working in a Higher Education setting.
