Electrical Test Technician - Holland, United States - UL
Description
This is an onsite role requiring 5 days per week in our lab in Holland, MI.Responsibilities:
Safety Testing:
- Conduct safety tests on furniture products to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Examine specific aspects and components of furniture items to identify potential safety hazards.
- Compile detailed reports on findings and testing data gathered during safety evaluations.
Performance and Durability Testing:
- Evaluate the performance and durability of furniture through various tests (e.g., loadbearing capacity, impact resistance, stability).
- Analyze test results and provide recommendations for product improvements.
Electrical Testing:
- Perform electrical tests on furniture components (wiring, switches, connectors) to verify safety and functionality.
- Inspect power cords, plugs, and electrical connections for compliance with safety standards.
Mechanical Testing:
- Conduct mechanical tests (e.g., stress tests, fatigue tests) to assess the structural integrity of furniture.
- Evaluate joints, hinges, and moving parts for durability and safety.
Quality Assurance:
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and production teams to ensure that furniture meets safety and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of testing procedures, results, and any necessary adjustments.
Equipment Maintenance:
- Regularly inspect and maintain testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable results.
- Follow proper storage and maintenance procedures for testing equipment.
Communication:
- Discuss findings with other team members and relevant stakeholders.
- Provide clear and concise verbal and written communication regarding safety test results.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to enhancing safety testing protocols.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar preferred.
- 2 years of experience as a testing technician in the furniture industry or in a TIC industry preferred.
- Proficiency in testing procedures and protocols.
- Analytical thinking and problemsolving abilities.
- Excellent reportwriting skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working with data and numbers.
- Ability to work independently and unsupervised.
- Familiarity with industryspecific testing equipment and software.
- Knowledge of testing equipment maintenance and storage procedures.
- Basic electrical and mechanical safety knowledge
