    Description

    Legal Assistant Position in Columbus, OH

    Type of Employment: Direct Hire

    Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000

    Responsibilities of a Legal Assistant

    • Provide confidential administrative support to legal staff
    • Handle documents and correspondence involving legal terminology and formats such as contracts, briefs, complaints, and motions
    • Proofread and file legal documents
    • Manage electronic calendar for assignments and make necessary appointments and arrangements
    • Handle incoming mail distribution and prioritization
    • Organize and maintain client files
    • Assist in business travel arrangements when needed
    • Use proper phone etiquette to manage incoming calls
    • Assist in creating new client and case forms
    • Support with typing, filing, and photocopying tasks as requested
    • Collaborate with other secretarial and administrative support staff

    Requirements for Legal Assistant Role

    • Proficiency in firm software and hardware including Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
    • Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures
    • Strong proofreading, grammar, and spelling skills
    • 3-5 years of experience in a mid to large size law firm
    • Ability to transcribe legal documents at a speed of 80 wpm
    • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks under time constraints
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
    • Willingness to work beyond standard hours when necessary
