Reporting to the VP, General Manager, the Operations Manager will oversee production and shipping/warehouse operations within the plant.

He/she will coordinate the activities of all plant departments in processing materials and manufacturing products to ensure that optimal levels of quality, safety and productivity are met.

Provides leadership and performs essential management tasks.

This is a hands-on management position that supports, coaches, directs and oversees all daily activities of the production, shipping/ receiving, and warehouse functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensures policies and procedures are followed and actively communicates best safety practices.
  • Manage production and shipping areas to prioritize safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Use key performance metrics to drive performance and improvements (e

g:
efficiency, errors, safety incident rate, labor/job costs, on-time delivery, shipping cycle time, etc.)

  • Manage production and shipping areas to optimize monthly sales/shipments while achieving a very high On-Time Delivery metric and meeting standard lead times.
  • Provide VP/GM with periodic forecasts on monthly shipment goals and actual results vs. target.
  • Train production and shipping leads and hourly team members at detailed job tasks to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency. Maintaining up to date training records.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepares production and personnel schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products.
  • Assess machinery, methods, and tooling/ fixtures for optimal quality and efficiency and partner with Engineering to implement improvements.
  • Manage warehouse activities (inventory storage and control, inventory transactions, order picking and staging) to optimize efficiency, quality/error reduction, and space management.
  • Implement and manage productivity metrics for shipping/receiving areas.
  • Manage receiving inspection process and properly train and manage Quality Inspectors to ensure proper inbound raw materials quality.
  • Actively lead annual physical inventory process from precount to actual inventory count and reconciliation, with mínimal inventory value change.
  • Supervisory responsibilities, including providing input on hiring and training/ development of employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, and appraising performance.

Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in related field is preferred.
  • Must have 5+ years' experience in manufacturing management role. Management experience with Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse functions is a definite plus.
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Strong supervisor and leadership skills
  • Ability to function well in a fast paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Strong PC skills including Excel are required. Experience using and leveraging an ERP system, MRP planning moduels, and/or Warehouse Management System is a strong plus.
  • Thorough understanding of raw materials, production process, quality control, cost management, inventory control, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and have a positive attitude.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus, but not required.
