- Recruit, screen, and enroll study participants who meet research criteria for multiple clinical trials in the Cancer Center.
- Obtain informed consent from study participants and maintain telephone and in-person contact as needed. Notify Principal Investigator and supervisor of subject status.
- Collect subject data, enter data, and compile reports, adhering to proper research protocols.
- Prepare documentation, keep appropriate logs, track participants, and prepare study materials.
- Process, prepare, and ship laboratory specimens.

The Non-Treatment Research Operations (NTRO) Team in the Cancer Center Office of Clinical Research (OCR) at the University of Virginia is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator (varying levels) to conduct a variety of clinical trial activities. Duties will include working with research participants, processing laboratory specimens, data entry, record keeping, materials preparation, and reviewing of prospective research participants. Clinical Research Coordinators will also assist with clinical trial-related activities, recruit, screen, and consent potential study participants, schedule study visits, prepare and maintain study documentation, collect data at study visits, and manage all data collected. Individuals seeking this position must have strong organization skills, have the ability to problem-solve, work well in a team environment, have excellent written and oral communication skills, strong assessment skills and demonstrate an ability to learn new information quickly.
The NTRO Team specifically manages studies that do not involve a new treatment for cancer. Many of our studies require collection of biospecimens, surveys, and/or data to be entered by the Clinical Research Coordinator. Clinical Research Coordinators will also be required to pre-screen clinics to determine patient eligibility.
Duties include:
Applicants will be considered for the following levels and position types:
1. Clinical Research Coordinator 1, Non-Licensed
Education: Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree. Four years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience : None, however some experience in a healthcare setting and / or knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
2.Clinical Research Coordinator 1, Licensed
Education: Associate's Degree Required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred. Nursing Diploma may substitute for Associate's Degree for Licensed Registered Nurse.
Experience: None.
3.Clinical Research Coordinator- 2, Non-Licensed
Education: Associate's degree Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred. Four years of clinical research experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
Experience: At least one year of clinical research experience.
4. Clinical Research Coordinator- 2, Licensed
Education: Associate's degree Required, Bachelor's degree Preferred. Nursing Diploma may substitute for Associate's Degree for Licensed Registered Nurse.

Licensure: RN or other health-related licensure as dictated by study (Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, etc.)
Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
