Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the efficient and effective implementation, maintenance, and review of strategic planning for the District as it relates to school improvement plans.

The Director of School Improvement will serve the district and its stakeholders by working with building leaders to create and evaluate the school improvement plans, maintain state and ESSA compliance, and ensure strategic plan alignment.

This position requires the use of independent judgment. The essential functions as shown below only represent key areas of responsibility.

Direct School Improvement planning at District and building levels
Oversee state mandates and district academic compliance
Ensure strategic plan alignment
District Data Analyst

Hiring Specifications:
Education
Master's degree in Education, Ed Leadership, or applicable area related to the scope of responsibility required
Additional graduate work related to scope of responsibility highly desired
Certification
Iowa Professional Administrator license with PK-12 Principal and/or PK-12 Supervisor of Special Education endorsement(s) required.
Experience
Five (5) years of successful teaching experience required.
Five (5) years of successful administrative experience required, a combination of principal and central office/consulting experience preferred.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Advanced knowledge of state and federal laws and rules governing school improvement planning, mandates, and compliance
Knowledge of processes and procedures to address effective implementation and review of the strategic planning cycle
Experience and knowledge of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and problem solving practices
Effective oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of related research and quality practices
Ability to organize varied responsibilities and meet deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively with district personnel, committees and community agencies
Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and respectfully with staff, parents, students and community members regardless of race, creed, color, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnic/national origin, religion, marital status, age, socio-economic status or disability
Ability to recognize sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality
Ability to handle adversity in an objective manner
Demonstrated record of commitment and sensitivity to affirmative action, equal opportunity and human rights
Ability to develop, manage and monitor program budgets
Knowledge of processes to address cultural diversity and associated issues related to student performance and instructional methodology
Intermediate computer skills (Google Suites, search function, student information systems, basis promethean)
High computer skills (familiarity with Education Tech Tools, Informational systems specific to position)
Ability to reach all skill levels listed if not already acquired

Job Duties:
Provides leadership, coordination, and alignment of School Improvement Plans for the District and all buildings.
Collaborates with the District Leadership Team for the purpose of strategic planning.

Coordinates the district's school improvement plan (criteria, process, implementation, results) for the purpose of assessing and identifying student needs and building capacity in instructional leadership.

Quarterly strategic planning and accountability reviews with all attendance centers.
Individual strategic planning support with buildings as needed; 12-week action planning.
Facilitate detailed strategic planning sessions at June and August leadership retreats .

District Data Analyst:

development and oversight of a district data dashboard containing student achievement data at all levels for use in strategic planning.

Analyzes academic data, student data, and assessments for the purpose of planning with district and building administrators.
Coordinates the implementation and monitoring of Section 504 plans and practices.
Coordinates the implementation and monitoring of MTSS structures.
Oversees state reporting as it relates to ESSA and CASA.
Assists school administrators in understanding and properly enforcing district policies and regulations related to strategic planning.
Expands and monitors the effective implementation of problem solving practices and procedures.
Monitors fund balances of assigned programs and related financial activity.

Monitors projects, grants, and programs for the purpose of ensuring that the District is in compliance with state and federal requirements.

Communicates with parents and the community on matters relating to strategic planning.
Expands the implementation of inclusive schools and inclusive educational practices.
Coordinates the developing, writing and filing of required reports.
Keeps current on research and best practices in the field.

Coordinates with Teaching and Learning on the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional practices that fully consider the needs of all students.

Adheres to high ethical standards and demonstrates professionalism when acting as an agent of the district.
Maintains professional growth through graduate work, professional organizations, seminars, conferences and/or related professional literature.
Performs other duties as assigned.
