GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To plan, organize and implement an appropriate psychology program in a school learning environment that guides
and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic and social/emotional potential.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
● Displays skillful use of the problem-solving process.
● Displays knowledge of child and adolescent cognitive, social/emotional, and behavioral functioning.
● Displays knowledge of students/skills, knowledge, language proficiency, interests, cultural heritage, special
needs.
● Establishes clear and appropriate goals for school psychological services.
● Effectively uses District and community resources to meet the student needs.
● Integrates psychological services with the regular school program to meet the needs of students, including
prevention, intervention, consulsation, and assessment.
● Synthesize data through observations and relates finding to school functioning.
● Develops a plan to assess the services which are organized around clear goals and the collection of evidence
to indicate the degree to which the goals have been met.
● Demonstrates accurate knowledge of special education laws and procedures.
● Interacts respectfully with students, parents, other members of the service team and school staff.
● Promotes a culture for learning and a positive climate in the school and district among students and staff.
● Possesses strong skills to effectively support the RTI process.
● Organizes a structure for the functioning of the RTI process and clearly communicates the procedures of the
RTI process to all involved parties.
● Works to maintain the integrity of the established RTI procedures.
● Organizes a safe environment; supports and maintains standards of conduct for student behavior and
monitors student behavior against those standards.
● Responds to students in an appropriate and respectful manner.
● Communicates information regarding the problem-solving process to staff.
● Engages other staff in providing input for the problem-solving process.
● Maintains contact with community service providers.
● Frequently consults with parents, teachers and administrators; effectively using data-based decision-making
and problem solving processes.
● Adheres to procedures and safeguards that are in compliance with NASP guidelines for best practice.
● Assumes leadership of the problem-solving team including prevention, intervention, collaboration,
consultations, and assessment including but not limited to RTI.
● Recommends evidence-based interventions that are suitable for the student(s) aligned with student needs.
● Makes revisions to plans for delivery of services when confronted with evidence of the need for change.
● Reflections incorporate school-wide student data and provide an accurate and objective description of
practice, citing specific positive and negative characteristics.
● Makes specific suggestions to improve services.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
● Strong background and experience with the RTI and MTSS process
● Able to establish strong connections with students and families
● Able to work collaboratively with others
● Ability to synthesize data to help inform decisions
● Knowledge of social/emotional needs of the student body
● Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to analyze data and use for improvements
● Ability to building relationships effectively and professionally with students, families, and staff
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS and/or EXPERIENCE:
● Master's degree from an accredited university
● Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with proper licensure for school psychology
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit; bend; use hands to finger, handle, or
feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly
required to stand and walk. Generally, employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally
lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, however depending on the specific position and individual student needs,
employee physical requirements may exceed the generally established weight limitation. Specific vision abilities
required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and
ability to adjust focus. The employee regularly types using a keyboard.
Within the work environment, the employee is exposed to a computer screen and regularly works within an
office environment. The employee occasionally works evenings and/or weekends. The employee is occasionally
exposed to outdoor weather conditions and regularly works with the use of a personal vehicle. The employee will
have contact with the public, which requires appropriate demeanor. The noise level in the work environment is
typically moderate.
