    Description
    The Children's Home of Pittsburgh is seeking Full-Time Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) for our Pediatric Specialty Hospital.

    This individual will work three 12 hour shifts a week rotating days and nights, every other weekend and holidays.
    LPNs are prepared to function as a member of the health-care team by exercising sound nursing judgment based on preparation, knowledge, experience in nursing and competency. The LPN participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care using focused assessments in settings where nursing takes place.

    Minimum Skills and Abilities Required:
    • Level of knowledge acquired through the completion of an accredited practical school of nursing program.
    • Current licensure as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in the state of Pennsylvania.
    • Minimum of two years of experience in order to have (a) acquired a thorough knowledge of the scientific principles of nursing (b) acquired a thorough knowledge of professional nursing standards; (c) developed skill in neonatal and/or pediatric nursing techniques and the ability to adapt techniques based on individual needs; and (d) become familiar with hospital policies, procedures and standards.
    • Current CPR certification.
    • Ability to identify changes in patient conditions.
    • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to communicate with patients, family members, medical staff, and families in sensitive situations. Ability to work cooperatively within the framework of the nursing team.
    • Comply with safety policies and procedures including standard precautions.
    • Physical ability necessary for constant standing, walking, and lifting 10 to 50 lbs. A high level of stamina also necessary for the frequent lifting and moving of patients and the carrying of supplies and equipment.
    • Emotional/mental ability to perform effectively and efficiently under the daily pressure of stressful or emergency situations.
