Position Overview


Under the direction of the Environmental Manager, the Environmental Assistant assists with administration of the company's environmental program to ensure safe working conditions and compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations.

This involves conducting training and orientation, maintaining required OSHA documentation, and promoting engagement in company enviromental programs.


Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • Assists with audits of plant facilities regulated under OSHA, General Industry and Construction Standards.
  • Prepares reports and maintains environmental files and documentation, and records.
  • Assists in preparing all notices required by OSHA, TCEQ and other agencies.
  • Maintain environmental health and safety systems with current data, ensure policies and training are current.
  • Provide environmental, health and
    safety support to supervisors and EHS Manager.
  • Routine tests of raw materials, calculation of results and preparation of test reports
  • Test all products and raw materials and record results.
  • Obtain product samples and communicate what will be produced.
  • Perform production material test throughout shift.
  • Perform product reject analysis.
  • Visit manufacturing sites to test machinery and report proposed process improvements.
  • Inspect all finished goods.
  • Maintenance and housekeeping of assigned areas and equipment
  • Other duties as assigned by the EHS Manager.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • At least 2 years of constructions and/or industrial experience
  • Thorough understanding of and ability to enforce all federal, state, local and Company regulations.
Work Requirements

Must have a valid, state issued driver's license.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement essential corrective measures
  • Solid training/teaching experience
  • High ethical standards
  • Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)
  • Can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support, etc.) to get things done.
  • Must be able to orchestrate multiple activities simultaneously to accomplish a goal.
  • Able to use resources effectively and efficiently and arrange information in a useful manner
  • Be able to be a strong voice in bringing the company's slogan of
    _Safety First, Always_ to the forefront

Physical Requirements


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


  • Able to communicate with others by telephone and in person.
  • Intermittent climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling are required.
  • Periodic, but extensive walking and standing required.
  • Must also be able to drive a vehicle and walk uneven terrain.
  • May require periodically lifting objects up to 30 lbs.

Work Environment:


  • May be exposed to extreme hot, cold, and wet weather.
  • Tempo is fast paced with deadlines.
  • The noise level in some areas of the work environment may be moderate.
