    SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this role is to conduct hydraulic computations and computer modeling and analysis of water and wastewater systems.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Conduct hydraulic computations and computer modeling and analysis of water distribution and wastewater collection systems using software tools such as Bentley Water Gems and Sewer Gems.
    • Develop calibrated hydraulic models of existing and new water/wastewater infrastructure to simulate system performance under various scenarios.
    • Analyze and interpret modeling results to provide insights into system behavior and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
    • Collaborate with engineers, planners, and other stakeholders to integrate modeling insights into the design and planning of water/wastewater projects.
    • Work with ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Water Gems, Sewer Gems or relational database management software (such as MS-Access, SQL Server, or Oracle) to integrate spatial data into modeling workflows.
    • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate modeling findings and recommendations effectively using strong communication skills.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and clients regarding water and wastewater modeling methodologies and software applications.
    • Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements related to water and wastewater modeling.
    • Prepares project work plan, scope, schedule, and budget, and communicates these to project team members; monitors/manages project production for compliance with schedule, budget, and quality objectives
    • Develop, update, calibrate, and apply hydraulic network models in analysis of water supply/distribution systems and wastewater collection networks.
    • Identify areas with deficient pressure, fire hydrant flow and provide recommendations for improvements.
    • Sizing of new and replacement water supply, feeder, distribution mains, and water storage facilities.
    • Identification of available fire flow to support design of customers' fire protection (sprinkler) systems.
    • Identification of wastewater collection network capacity to support additional users.
    • Support to water system operations (water main flushing, startup of supply wells).
    • Work effectively and collaboratively on project teams serving as subject matter expert on hydraulic modeling.
    • Importing of CAD/GIS data for evaluation of as-designed water mains/sewer mains in project hydraulic analyses.
    • Importing of GIS data for new pipes and annual water consumption.
    • Calibration of pipe roughness factors using field hydrant flow test results.
    • Calibration of model consumption peaking (steady-state) and diurnal (extended period simulation) factors using operational (SCADA) data from recent peak days and peak weeks.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • EDUCATION: BS Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology; (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience, which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
    • EXPERIENCE:
      • Specific experience and familiarity in drinking water distribution and wastewater collection system planning design and operations
      • Two (2)+ years' experience and demonstrated proficiency using hydraulic network modeling software (Water/Sewer Gems (preferred), EPANET, InfoWater, or other equivalent) to model water distribution systems.
    • SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED: MS Office platform, AutoCAD, REVIT, GIS (preferred but not required), Water/Sewer Gems.

    LICENSES and REGISTRATIONS

    • Professional Engineering license preferred

    • 75% office-based, 25% field based, though variable throughout the year depending on project needs.
    • Exposure to typical office based and construction site noise levels should be expected.
