Summary:
The Fellowship Program is designed to provide an exceptional foundation for those seeking a career in health care administration while providing Newport Hospital with contemporary management and cross-functional project skills from highly qualified future leaders.
The Administrative Fellow will participate on special projects/teams and analyze and recommend changes in organizational systems procedures and policies and will pursue professional development activities to ensure currency with present practices and trends in health care administration.
Responsibilities:
Key job responsibilities include working on a variety of projects as assigned and under the general supervision of Newport Hospital
- s Executive Leadership team (President Chief Medical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer). The Administrative Fellow will have exposure to the Executive Leadership Team and Senior Management throughout the duration of the fellowship.
Takes a leadership role in direct project work as assigned by the Executive Leadership Team.
Participates on projects/teams as assigned to demonstrate leadership potential in areas such as:
- Interacting with senior management team and department managers to ensure coordinated efforts help develop operational plans.
- Working with Administration to develop professional relations internal as well as external.
- Maintaining compliance with government requirements and standards of quality care.
- Analyzing and recommending changes in organizational systems procedures and policies. National and Local Healthcare trends.
- Aiding senior management in developing and implementing specific programs products and services.
- Coordinating with senior management and department heads to ensure organizational problems are resolved.
Organizes key internal and external leadership meetings including but not limited to weekly Senior Management meetings and monthly Management Team Meetings.
Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
-EDUCATION:
***Position requires a bachelor
- s degree (B.H.A B.H.S.A. or related field).
Preferred master
- s degree (M.B.A. M.H.A. M.H.S.A. or related field) or be on schedule to complete the master
- s degree before the fellowship start date.

QUALIFICATIONS-EXPERIENCE:Health care industry experience such as an internship externship fellowship or applicable employment preferred.
Possess broad knowledge of current and historical perspectives on health care business management and administration clinical practice management clinical research and education hospital administration and management finance human resources and organizational development and information systems.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects. Frequent sitting. Frequent standing and walking. Occasional reaching extending hands and arms at or above/ below shoulder level.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
***Incumbent functions independently within the department
- s policies and procedures. Refers specific complex issues to supervisor when clarification of policies and procedures is required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Provides functional guidance to others who may be assigned on a project basis.
