POSITION DETAILS:


Librarian I salary = $52,426 year

Library Specialist salary = $48,997 year
This professional position will assist in managing Reference/Adult Services at the Myersville Community Library. This position provides direct library service to the general public, and especially to adults and teens.

Supervision is given to Shelvers, and volunteers:
and direction may be given to department staff. Supervision is received from the Branch Administrator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Assist customers of all ages in using computerized and print information sources for general reference, information and readers' advisory requests and/or direct them to other appropriate sources
  • Maintain indepth knowledge of the collection, current literature, and content delivery formats
  • Develop, implement and evaluate innovative age appropriate programs and outreach for adults and teens
  • Participate in and support planning and implementation of systemwide programs, events and outreach
  • Manage branch or systemlevel services/ programs and/or lead projects and teams, as assigned
  • Manage collections for effective access and usefulness, as assigned
  • Perform bibliographic searches related to interlibrary loan requests and reserves
  • Work with the Branch Administrator to identify, plan, implement and evaluate promotion, marketing and outreach activities for alignment and effectiveness in communicating the mission and goals of the library, and the value of library products and services to the public, organizations, businesses, and other community entities.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships and partnerships with community organizations, groups and individuals, including outreach and programming
  • Oversee maintenance of appropriate collection, working under the direction of the supervisor
  • Provide content/information for publication on the FCPL Website
  • Assist in developing and presenting training to FCPL staff and general public on library/information resources, services, policies, programming, and procedures
  • Assume duties and responsibilities of "librarianin charge" as assigned and make decisions in accordance with regulations and established policies
  • Supervise, train and evaluate Shelvers and volunteers as assigned
  • May work in conjunction with children's services staff to assist with implementing age appropriate programs for children when needed
  • Participate in department, branch and systemwide work teams and committees
  • Prepare displays and programs to promote reading and library services
  • Explain FCPL policy and procedures to the public and monitor proper library behavior and safety.
  • Recommend materials for acquisition or withdrawal from circulation
  • Attend related workshops, meetings and learning opportunities
  • Perform other related duties as required
