About our Preschool:
Little Friends Learning Loft at the Newburgh JCC is where we encourage imaginative play and child-led learning through the Montessori method. We promote experiential learning and outdoor play utilizing sand, gardening, the playground, and grassy areas. We introduce literacy, early phonics, numbers, and letters in a multi-age (3-6) classroom. We practice motor skills, explore life cycles, and nourish a spiritual sense of wonder and respect for our natural world and its inhabitants. We create and craft in the art house, sing during music class and restore with yoga in the dance studio. In inclement weather, children play in our gym to promote physical wellness. Providing these introductions and promoting a self-paced learning environment will encourage autonomy and character development. At Little Friends Learning Loft, we are all passionate about providing a safe setting that ensures peace, empathy, and compassion. Respect is modeled, taught, and practiced. We strongly believe that anyone from all backgrounds of life can come together in a supportive, warm, and open-minded community to create a beautiful world.
Position Overview:
Assist Lead Teacher/Supervisor with both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice, and program philosophy.
Monday - Friday Full-Time Position.
Compensation begins at $15-$17 per hour.
Qualifications:

Experience with classroom management and skills in caring for early childhood children.

Experience attending to children's individual well-being and hygiene.

Knowledge about or willingness to participate in Jewish traditions and interest in Montessori Method of Education.

An energetic, flexible, and open-minded personality.

Clear, positive communication skills with children and their families.
-
Maintain confidentiality and a healthy, safe environment.

Arrange a classroom environment in accordance with program goals and philosophy.

Attend in-service parent-teacher conferences and staff meetings.

Attire to our Covid conscience guidelines and encourage vaccination.
Responsibilities:

Help set up and replenish the learning spaces each school day.

Support the students' participation in school routines, play, and learning activities, outdoors on a daily basis, especially during transitions.

Attend to each child's hygiene (toileting/hand washing) and social-emotional needs.

Support individual students' self-expression as students observe, question, and investigate.

Work with the lead teacher to document children's language, activity, and progress.
