    In addition to clinical development programs in CF, Vertex has more than a dozen ongoing research programs focused on the underlying mechanisms of other serious diseases including programs in Type 1 diabetes, hemoglobinopathies, APOL-1 Mediated Kidney Disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency, and pain.

    Reporting to the Global Commercial Strategy Pipeline VP, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in defining, leading, and driving global commercial strategic initiatives for Vertex's expanding pipeline.

    The Director, Global Commercial Strategy will partner cross-functionally to a) drive market development activities in multiple indications for Vertex, b) assess the commercial potential of new opportunities and c) provide commercial strategy for Vertex's growing pipeline.

    This dynamic and high-profile position is a hybrid/on-site role based in Boston, MA.The role requires global launch experience, strategic and analytical thinking, as well as an ability to manage complex details and drive actions across a variety of areas.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong scientific, strategic, market development and analytical background, be a self-starter and possess exceptional emotional intelligence, communication skills and judgement.


    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead and ensure successful development and implementation of the commercialization (midterm) and portfolio (long term) strategies including brand development, competitive strategy, go-to-market/launch, and lifecycle decisions for future launches.

    Executed in close partnership with the Regions, Market Access, Regulatory and Commercial Manufacturing.

    Develop strong partnerships with functional team members to support business goalsDeliver foundational insights about the evolving external landscape in a number of disease areas today and in future, with focus on patients and providers, managing external consultants together with Marketing Science and Market AccessGenerate and consolidate key stakeholder insights through market research, ad boards, etc.

    Support long-range planning, including insights, assumptions and slide developmentExecute key global initiatives to prepare the market, enable strong uptake and sustain commercial success.


    Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree required, Advanced degree preferredTypically 12+ years of progressive, relevant experience with demonstrated experience in commercial strategy and marketing, experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departmentsOutstanding communication of information and ideas, both written and verbal, to diverse audiences, including executives.

    Strong presentation-building abilitiesExperience developing a global commercial strategy (US, EU, LA, APAC) for pipeline products essentialStrong collaboration skills, with an ability to influence multiple stakeholders.
