Description

Alate Health is an outpatient interventional radiology center that performs fibroid and prostate embolizations, peripheral arterial interventions, and vein procedures that require conscious sedation and monitoring.

Expected hours 7 am to 2 pm. Primary location is at 1213 Hermann Dr 77004 in the museum district. If working on Tuesdays, location would be 12825 Gulf Fwy, 77034 on Southeast side of Houston.

General Summary of Duties:

Responsible for patient care under direction of physician or licensed health care provider, to include monitoring conscious sedation, starting IVs and administering medications.


Supervisor:
Physician/ Office Manager


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Major Responsibilities/Tasks:


  • Ensuring a high standard of nursing care to working within company policies and procedures.
  • Setting, monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of nursing care.
  • Maintaining personal contact with patients and relatives, being sensitive to their needs for courtesy, dignity and privacy and ensuring a friendly environment at all times.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment within the clinical area in accordance with established standards and regulations
  • Working with mínimal supervision during preoperative assessment, procedures, and recovery of patients and other related procedures
  • Educating the patient, family, and other health care providers as appropriate regarding the requested procedure.
  • Preparing patient both physically and emotionally prior to examination, explaining procedures to allay patient fears.
  • Following up lab results and ensuring lab results are within acceptable levels prior to procedures.
  • Perform venipuncture and start IVs and Hep-Locks, and access ports
  • Perform port checks/flushes
  • Storing, checking and administering drugs in accordance with established standards and guidelines, including maintenance of narcotic log.
  • Providing technical assistance during procedures, ensuring safe working practice.
  • Monitor patients recovering from conscious sedation.
  • Ensuring the safe discharge of all patients who have had procedures
  • Educating patients regarding postoperative instructions
  • Maintaining timely and accurate nursing records and ensuring that confidentiality is respected.
  • Working directly on Electronic Medical Record system for the electronic management of patient information
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the practice's Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of client information entered into Electronic Medical Record system.
  • Check emergency equipment (oxygen, emergency kit, ambu bag, defibrillator, anesthesia cart, gomco suction unit).
  • Triage all emergency situations.
  • Assist with Center flow and clean up.
  • Contributing to the local resolution, investigation and follow up action of any informal or formal complaints.
  • Identify and assist in resolving issues regarding staffing and equipment needs.
  • Assist with implementation and ensuring compliance to policies and procedures for designated areas.
  • Be willing to continuously learn and expand clinical knowledge base.
  • Demonstrate clear knowledge and accountability of quality regulations and standards.
  • Be proactive in team development and problem solving.

Education:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.


Experience:
Minimum of five years' experience as registered nurse, experience with conscious sedation or ER/ICU experience is preferable.


Certification:
Registered Nurse with current nursing license to practice in the state of Texas

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Basic Life Support (BLS) Pediatric Advanced Life support (PALS)


Performance Requirements:


  • Knowledge:_
Knowledge of infection control, universal precautions, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) and OSHA standards

Knowledge of procedures and techniques necessary to administer medication and treatment as prescribed by physician

Knowledge of medications associated with conscious sedation and pain management and side effects required.

  • Skills:_
Skill to assess, evaluate, and record symptoms and behavior to facilitate the nursing process and best patient outcome.


Skill to plan, organize and provide clinical direction to other health care staff to enable the nursing care of patients.

Skill to keep logs to ensure completion and efficiency of patient care.

Skill to prepare reports to provide information and documentation to others.


Skill to communicate (verbal and written) effectively to direct the overall professional nursing services in a manner which encourages the open exchange of ideas and information.
