Requirements:


  • O.D. degree from a nationally accredited institution and licensed to practice Optometry in the State of Michigan (or be licenseeligible) including diagnostic and therapeutic privileges required.
  • Residency, Fellowship or Board Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of current practice patterns and ability to independently practice within current standards of care, including making appropriate referral for care or services when needed.
  • Basic knowledge of community health care and/or public health principles.
  • Maintain current certification and training for Basic Life Support/CPR.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner demonstrating Cherry Health's key values.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and to accept and utilize constructive criticism.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with Chiefs, Directors, Managers, Providers, and other Staff.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required to fulfill the mission of Cherry Health.
  • Organizational and technical /computer skills.
  • Travel to other sites is required.

Responsibilities:


  • Support Cherry Health's mission and vision.
  • Provide comprehensive quality eye care including dilated eye exams, appropriate diagnostic testing, assessment, treatment and follow up as needed.
  • Maintain productivity consistent with individual and departmental goals.
  • Maintain complete and accurate patient records utilizing electronic health records and complete charts within 72 hours.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of clinic policies, procedures, and protocols when requested.
  • Adhere to all clinical policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Assist in training essential support staff.
  • Provide clinical training and precepting of both optometry externs and residents.
  • Attend regular internal and external departmental meetings.
  • Understand and adhere to the Agency's compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Agency regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
