Primary Job Responsibilities:


  • Work as a member of a team to maintain a clean, safe, positive living environment for each individual who lives at the residence.
  • Act as Shift Supervisor; directly supervise all staff in the assigned residence while on shift
  • Provide supervision of all individuals while under his/her care.
  • Monitor staff performance, assist in yearly evaluation process.
  • Ensure employees adhere to all policies/requirements of The Guild for Human Services.
  • Ensure all staff implement positive behavior supports and individual behavior support plans
  • Attend training as required.
  • Assist nursing in taking individuals to Doctors' appointments.
  • Monitor all individuals' medications and coordinate with nursing if orders are needed.
  • Monitor and ensure that all individuals receive their prescribed medication, and that the medication administration record has been completed correctly each day.
  • Administer and record students' medications as directed during training.
  • Ensure all residential documentation including logs and Incident/Accident (IA) reports are completed.
  • Plan and implement community activities for students in the residence.
  • Monitor individual and house expenditures.
  • Develop and implement residential meal preparation including menu development, grocery shopping and cooking that is inclusive of all student who live in the home.
  • Attend individual's team meetings as requested.
  • Manage the day to day functions of the residence including crisis interventions, oncall notifications, onshift parent/guardian communication, and individuals programming.
  • Ensure the implementation of all individualized programming in accordance with each IEP and daily activity schedule.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely collection and summation of individuals' and house data.
  • Implement and record fire drills to ensure the health and safety of the individuals who live in the home.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the home and vehicles.
  • Ensure the implementation of all Guild Youth Residential Services policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job including weekends, holidays and inclement weather situations.
  • Demonstrated evidence of mature judgment, good interpersonal skills, a desire to enrich individuals' lives and a willingness to learn from skilled professionals.
  • Physical and mental capacity to work in stressful situations and deescalate individuals who have limited cognition and complex needs
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is an essential function of the job.
  • Pass Guild Driving test to access Guild vehicles for transportations of individuals.
  • The ability to implement crisis intervention techniques as necessary, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (via certification through CPI).
  • The ability to assist individuals in evacuation from the residence.
  • Bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, or related field preferred
  • At least two years of experience in a directcare facility, preferably in a residential setting with a similar population; education may be substituted for one year of experience
  • Ability to demonstrate supervisory and administrative skills
  • Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements
  • MAP (Medication Administration Program) certification or the ability to obtain MAP certification within first 90 days of employment
  • Reliable transportation to residential homes located in Massachusetts
