    Description

    Job Description:

    The Controller will be a strategic thought-partner, and report to the CFO.

    The successful candidate will be hands-on and participative, and will lead and develop an internal team to support the following areas: finance, business planning and budgeting, human resources, administration, and IT.


    Responsibilities:


    • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
    • Regularly produce financial reports and statements.
    • Coordinate all audit activities.
    • Evaluate and oversee all benefits negotiations.
    • Manage cash flow and forecasting; direct all financial, project-based, and departmental accounting.
    • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors; assess any changes necessary.
    • Coordinate and lead the annual tax preparation and filing process, liaise with external tax preparation team; assess any changes necessary.
    • Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep executive leadership team abreast of the organization's financial status.
    • Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department's overall policy and procedure manual.
    • Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the executive leadership team.

    Qualifications:


    • Minimum of a BA, ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree
    • At least 7-10 years of overall professional experience; ideally 6+ years of broad financial and accounting management experience
    • The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area
    • Ability to translate financial concepts to - and to effectively collaborate with - operations and mining colleagues who do not necessarily have finance backgrounds
    • Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
    • Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization
    • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making
    • Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
    • A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
    • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of the organization.

    Preferred Skills:


    • Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
    • Significant experience in or knowledge of mining or construction accounting, including compliance and cost reporting.
    • Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred
