- Evaluate marketing specifications to produce engineering product specifications and development plans for embedded systems. Determine system reliability and select components to achieve the required product performance.
- Lead DFMEAs, design reviews, and project status meetings.
- Supervise or perform schematic development and printed circuit board layout to ensure functionality and compliance with UL, FCC, and CE regulations.
- Define and implement rigorous verification and validation test plans.
- Collaborate with test labs to conduct EMI/EMC/Safety testing to achieve global compliance.
- Contribute to the specification of production test fixtures for new products.
- Review the work of other engineers to identify and mitigate potential issues before product fabrication.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to execute new product introductions.
- Create technical documentation such as drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, installation instructions, work instructions, and product catalogs supporting new product releases.
- Coach or mentor junior-level engineers and interns.
- Partner with Production, Quality, and Purchasing staff to ensure product manufacturability.
- Maintain released product lines concerning product enhancements and PCBA manufacturability.
- Provide technical support to other departments for all embedded designs.
- BS Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical engineering field.
- Familiarity with low-voltage power distribution equipment.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required up to 10% of the time.
- Schematic and PCB design tools, with Altium Designer being preferred.
- Embedded microprocessor designs.
- SPI, I2C, UART, RS-485, Ethernet, Wi-Fi.
- Expert user of laboratory equipment such as AC/DC power supplies, oscilloscopes, and soldering equipment.
- Proficiency with electrical theory in DC and three-phase AC power distribution.
- Exceptional organizational, time management, communications, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the design and application of metering and monitoring products.
- The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection.
- Regularly required to communicate with others.
- Able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer to join the Data, Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA. The Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer is the primary contributor to the design, documentation, commercialization, testing, integration, and maintenance of Starlines embedded electronic devices. Works under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment. Leads and manages complex projects and fully understands the area of specialization. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in their own area of expertise. This position is a hybrid role allowing for remote work 2-3 days per week.
