- Establish quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives in conjunction with upper management.
- Supervise the maintenance and dissemination of drug information through in-service education of hospital personnel, consultation with patients, hospital staff, and medical staff.
- Actively assist staff pharmacists in the discharge of routine duties as necessary.
- Direct the activities of and provide professional and technical guidance to pharmacy personnel.
- Provide leadership to new program development, implementation and evaluation. Act as a consultant in areas of expertise.
- Anticipate the needs and issues of customers/suppliers in order to insure effective departmental operations and/or meet their needs.
- Provide leadership to the department through effective organization, direction of activities, and appropriate delegation of functions.
- Promotes teamwork among staff, peers, physicians, and others
- B.S. or Pharm D from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy
- Five (5) years hospital leadership experience in an acute care setting and/or PGY2 leadership residency completion required
- Knowledgeable and proficient in the legal responsibilities of the pharmacist to the facility and all state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy services required.
- Knowledge of pathophysiology, interpretation of diagnostic criteria, pharmacokinetics and pharmacotherapeutics as well as the use and application of new medications and technology required.
- Current Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy Required.
- Current Consultant Pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy Required (Applicable for FL only) .
- Controlled Substance License in good standing with appropriate State Board of Pharmacy required if applicable.

SHIFT: Full-time

Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital is licensed for 382 beds and has been nationally recognized by Leapfrog's Hospital Safety Grade A. It receives international acclaim for its outstanding and dynamic kidney, liver and pancreas transplant programs, setting record numbers for volume and outcomes. Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital is home to the Texas Transplant Institute, a nationally recognized center that recently performed the world's first 16-way kidney donor exchange chain during three consecutive days at a single hospital.
Job Summary
The Director of Pharmacy plans, organizes, controls, and supervises activities in hospital pharmacy according to hospital policies, standards, of practice of the profession, and State and Federal laws. Recommends innovations in the practice and function of the hospital pharmacy to Administration and carries out mutually agreed upon programs.
