Position Overview:
The Medical Assistant/Front Desk Receptionist plays a crucial role in providing administrative and clinical support in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Front Desk Duties:

  • Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Register patients by collecting demographic information and insurance details.
  • Schedule appointments and manage appointment calendars efficiently.
  • Answer phone calls, address inquiries, and route calls to appropriate staff members.
  • Maintain a clean and organized front desk area.
  • Process patient payments, copays, and issue receipts.

Administrative Support:

  • Assist with medical record management, including filing, scanning, and organizing documents.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists and diagnostic facilities as per physician instructions.
  • Assist with billing tasks, including coding, claim submission, and followup on unpaid claims.

Clinical Assistance:

  • Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for their appointments.
  • Record vital signs, medical histories, and other pertinent information accurately.
  • Assist physicians during medical procedures and examinations.
  • Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Document patient interactions, medical histories, and treatments accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Follow established protocols and workflows to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.

Customer Service:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to patients, addressing their concerns and ensuring their comfort.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and professionalism in all interactions.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a medical assistant program preferred but not required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology, basic clinical procedures, and administrative tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical insurance.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing healthcare regulations and technology.
