Description
This is advanced, supervisory library work, assisting with coordinating the Youth & Family services division of the St. Petersburg Library System.

This position will help coordinate programs and partnerships geared toward youth and families for all seven libraries, while serving as a coordinator-in-charge for day-to-day operations of the President Barack Obama Main Library or one of the community libraries.

This will involve supervision and support of professional and non-professional personnel engaged in customer service, circulation, program delivery, scheduling, and troubleshooting customer and staff issues.

Work will include assisting with the selection and ordering of physical and online materials for the library's Youth & Family collection, creating and updating procedural workflows, and recommending policies or procedures that support the library system's mission and vision.

This position will work to create and strengthen community partnerships and literacy initiatives that serve a diverse population.

The person in this position will exhibit continuous patience, tact, diplomacy, and customer service skills while interacting with community members and staff.

This position requires participation in the selection, placement, promotion, training, safety, appraisal, and discipline of direct reports. The schedule will include evening and weekend shifts.


Salary:
$57,631 - $91,881**

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:


  • Have a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from an American Library Association accredited college or university.
  • Have the ability to travel between library facilities, within the same shift, as needed.
  • Have progressive, professional, supervisory library experience in the assigned area of work.
  • Have significant professional experience in library services, including circulation, customer care and patron account matters, and services to youth and adults.
  • Have some experience in collection development, programming, and modern library technology.

Desirable Qualifications

Preferred applicants:


  • Have at least two years of experience working in various phases of a modern library system.
  • Have some experience using library automation and technology to enhance customer service onsite and online, including electronic resources, digital services, and user experience best practices, as well as customer service management tools and related library technology.
