Responsibilities:
New Product Trends and Technologies:
- Create new product strategies and roadmaps based on consumer insights, industry trends, proprietary innovative technology, and competitive sales data to drive sales and profitability for each brand within our portfolio
- Collaborate with Product Development, Global Design, Global Engineering departments to design new product lines for each of the US brands
- Search for and attend relevant trade shows (Canton Fair, Ambiente, IHS ) to stay on top of potential new product developments in the competitive market and understand their impact on our brands
- Identify, shop and report on relevant international markets that are ahead of the trend curve
- Work with factory R&D department to help identify, prioritize, and drive new technology development
- Work with Sr Manager Creative Direction to understand and implement new design and color trends
- Collaborate with the MUS sourcing team and MTC to develop cookware technologies that cannot be manufactured in Meyer owned factories
- Collaborate with STC to understand new and unique technologies that they are finding in their partner factories
Communication:
- Collaborate with US based crossfunctional teams to develop and execute new product ideas; foster strong relationships with counterparts in Product Management, and Brand teams
- On a regular basis, update the international marketing arm product teams on newly developed technologies features, benefits and availability
- Be able to train all levels of employees within the organization on new product features and benefits
- Correspond daily and after hours with counterparts in the Hong Kong and Macau offices as well as directly with factories in Asia
Travel:
- 3 to 4 international (predominately Asia) trips up to 2 weeks in duration annually
- Shorter domestic trips of 2 to 5 days in duration annually
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in business or related discipline
- 3 to 5 years product sourcing or buying experience
- 3 to 5 years working knowledge in the housewares industry
- Strong negotiating skills
- Strong understanding of retail math
- Sense of urgency
- Strong organizational skills
- Communicate effectively in English both in written and verbal formats
- Proficiency in social media and ecommerce platforms
