    Opportunity: Construction Safety Specialist at Sterling Engineering in Irvine, CA

    Title: Construction Safety Specialist (Environmental Health and Safety - EHS)

    Location: Irvine, CA 92612 on-site

    Duration: 6-9+ months

    Target Pay Range: $55.00/hour (W2, with full employee benefits)

    Sterling Engineering is searching for a committed Construction Safety Specialist to join the Research & Development Team and collaborate with the EHS Manager. This full-time position from Monday to Friday, offers a standard schedule of 8 AM–5 PM or 7 AM–4 PM with potential for overtime based on project timelines and construction needs.

    In this role you will:

    • Serve as a focal point for construction and contractor safety.
    • Develop, implement, and oversee safety protocols for engineering projects at the Irvine location.
    • Work closely with local EHS and engineering teams.
    • Coordinate external vendors for construction tasks.
    • Assist in performing job hazard analysis reviews.
    • Conduct regular site inspections for compliance and offer recommendations.
    • Collaborate with project engineers and contractors.
    • Make safety decisions within project guidelines.
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and company EHS regulations.
    • Provide safety training to contracted workforce.
    • Manage and monitor 3rd party construction/maintenance vendor compliance and EHS performance.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 5 years' Health & Safety experience in construction.
    • Knowledge of construction materials and practices.
    • Preferably a Bachelor's degree in safety, occupational health, engineering, or related field.
    • OSHA 30 Hour Certification required; Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
    • Experience with high-risk activities like electrical safety, excavation, confined spaces, fall protection, etc.
    • Familiar with California OSHA Construction Industry regulations.
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills in cross-functional teams.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and contractor management systems.
