Our victory also extended to the FCRA in Gilberg v. California Check Cashing, Inc., 913 F.3d , which expanded the Ninth-Circuit's holding in Syed v. M-I, LLC, 853 F.3d , which abolished the notion that a disclosure may not contain just a liability waiver -- rather, the Ninth Circuit held that any surplusage in a disclosure form prior to obtaining a background check violates the standalone disclosure requirement under the FCRA.

    ORGANIZATION TYPE: Law Firm (5-10 attorneys)

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    Legal Assistant / Jr. Paralegal

    Hourly: Up to $30/hr plus discretionary bonuses (D.O.E.)

    Our firm has an opening for a self motivated Legal Assistant / Jr. Paralegal with at least 2+ years preferred experience in employment law litigation and class actions at a law firm.

    We are looking to hire bright, hard-working, team-players to join our fast-growing firm.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Court filing (complaints, motions, and other pleadings in both State and Federal court)

    Drafting correspondences, serving discovery and deposition notices

    Calendaring hearings, deadlines, and other necessary tasks

    Reserve hearings, court/deposition reporters, order transcripts

    Follow up with court personnel and legal vendors regarding status and/or filings

    Check tentative rulings, schedule Court Calls and other remote appearances

    Manage and organize case documents

    Perform other administrative tasks as assigned

    SKILLS

    Proven working experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal

    Familiarity of State and Federal rules and procedures regarding filing, protocols, and calendaring

    Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines

    Expertise in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and case management software

    Knowledge of day-to-day operations within a law office

    Paralegal certificate preferred

    Bilingual (Spanish) desired
