JOB SUMMARY:
Job Duties
- Conduct accounting tasks for grants and contracts obtained by Career Resources, Inc. This includes managing the general ledger in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Establish and enforce procedures to communicate, educate, and ensure compliance with internal policies and relevant grant regulations. This involves revising the financial procedures manual associated with grant management.
- Collaborate with grant administrators regularly to develop or review annual and grant budgets, analyzing planned and actual expenses to align with grant award requirements.
- Adjust labor distribution and fringe benefits calculations as needed.
- Generate invoices and funding requests for state and federal finances.
- Finalize grants and submit necessary financial reports, including end-of-term expenditure reports to State, Federal, and Private Foundations.
- Create the annual Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) as part of the Annual Financial Audit.
- Prepare audit work papers for annual, state, federal, local, or internal audits.
- Manage tagged fixed assets purchased using grant funds, ensuring compliance with inventory policies through physical inventory checks.
- Maintain an updated grant status list with start and end dates.
- Keep informed about federal, state, local, and district regulations, policies, and procedures regarding grants.
- Fulfill other assigned duties necessary for operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in accounting, business administration, or related field.
- Three (3) years of accounting experience in a nonprofit organization or grant administration is preferred.
- Understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in MIP is beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience with Excel and Word is essential.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and mathematical skills.
- Team player with excellent organizational abilities.
- Reliable and capable of handling confidential information discreetly.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
