Description

We're ZABS Place - a thrift boutique in Matthews, NC with a mission of training and employing local young adults with special needs and talents.

We offer an individualized training program to empower these individuals, equipping them with valuable job skills to become key contributors to society.

We're all about learning, sharing, making mistakes, growing, making dreams come true, and having tons of fun.

We absolutely love what we do and it seems that the community does too, because we're growing _(That's why we're looking for Coaching & Training talent to join our team.)_ Our Job Coaches work with our Trainees to help them recognize their strengths and learn and master skills to achieve their individual goals.

We're all about asking questions to get minds in motion.

So how will you know if you're the right fit?
Think of the great sports coaches.

They don't really teach the game, they help their players understand the fundamentals, guide practice, slow down the game to work on technique, give lots of encouragement, and stay on the sidelines so the players can shine on their own.

That's you You'll be focused on supporting our Trainees so they can successfully practice the skills they're already good at so they can be amazing in their job.

Here's What You'll Do:

-
Learn the Job: You'll need to learn the jobs your Trainees will be doing so you can guide them.
-
Learn to Walk Backwards:We are goal oriented and work hard to create opportunities for our Trainees to master the skills they need to reach their individual goals.
-
Be a Ninja: Every job is made up of many tasks and that can be overwhelming to learn. You'll need to break down the tasks into steps to help them master the skills more easily.
-
Be a Model Show how a professional behaves while they're working.
-
Walk the Balance Beam: You'll be providing one-on-one support, encouraging independence, and seeing how well your Trainees are learning. Sometimes you'll need to teach a new task and show how it's done, other times you'll need to step back, watch, and be a cheerleader. It's a balance.
-
Be an Advocate: It's up to you to offer input and feedback about your Trainees progress. You'll be brainstorming with other ZABS team-members about possible store tasks that would teach important skills.
-
Be a Team Player:You'll be working with our Talent Accelerator _(Training Program Wizard)_ to help create daily schedules, recognize abilities and interests in our Trainees, review Trainees progress, and identify areas where more training is needed.

What We Expect From You:

-
Quirky Professionalism: ZABS has a unique personality and we love when it shows, but we always keep it professional. We're super proud of our brand and we embrace technology to help our Trainees learn more easily. Please don't be afraid of computers.
-
Optimism & Flexibility: Approach work with a "can do" spirit. Everything is easier when viewed through a bright and happy lens. Things are always changing at ZABS and there are lots of "unexpecteds" - we think that's great We want to stay nimble, have a growth mindset, and help our Trainees learn to navigate change so they can be successful in the World.
-
Communication: ZABS is a beautiful system of moving pieces, like intricate gears in a clock that must work together to run well. We all have different talents, areas of expertise, and responsibilities, ALL are critical to our success. No gear is more important. ZABS Place works well when we communicate, interact, and collaborate.
-
Imperfection: We're all about the teachable moment. Perfection isn't the answer, not at ZABS and not in most jobs, but the learning opportunity is Every success or mistake is a chance to teach and learn. It's not about getting it right the first time, it's about recognizing where learning and support still need to happen and providing it then and there so our Trainees can learn the skills. The more time spent observing, questioning, and coaching, the more they learn and benefit from ZABS Place
-
Creativity & Individualization: We know that one-size doesn't fit most. Our training plans are customized and unique to each of our Trainees and we need your help to make that happen. If someone is interested in trying something that fits their skill-building goals let us know so we can try it.

Available shifts and compensation:
