- Knowledge around purchasing products that tie to commodity markets, understanding and monitor market conditions for critical commodities/materials to determine opportunities and risk for price and availability as well as a high level of experience in Forecast Management
- Ability to utilize MRP/ERP and other planning tools to ensure a continuous supply of needed materials to support customer service level goals while maintaining targeted inventory levels
- Partner with the business to understand new product releases and seasonal trends to develop and maintain inventory levels in support of revenue and working capital goals
- Determining when forward buys are needed will be critical to managing costs
- Suppliers' point of contact to expedite shipments in tight supply conditions
- Ability to strategically assess the supply chain and provide recommendations to achieve a robust, cost-effective supply base that aligns with the Company's growth plans
- Ability to maintain clear and effective communication channels, both internally and externally
- Achieve annual savings goals for managed category
- Partner with the Quality Department to resolve supplier quality issues as needed and act as the point person to resolve compensation as appropriate
- Participate as part of ongoing Continuous Improvement efforts with suppliers
- Maintain ERP system items for purchased materials to reflect accurate information.
- Work closely with other members of the Supply Chain and Manufacturing to achieve common goals through the utilization of MRP, ERP, cycle counting, etc
- BS or BA Degree in Supply Chain Management preferred.
- 5 to 10 years of buying/planning of materials with experience in an ERP or MRP environment is required.
- MUST have experience in preparing import/export documents.
- APICS certification is CPIM or CIRM desired. CPM certification is also a plus.
- Experience in Sourcing and Purchasing with foreign countries
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and EDI and communication tools.
- Play a key role in product development/new product SKU introductions from a supply chain and quality perspective.
- MUST HAVE STRONG: Leadership and management skills, oral and written presentation communication skills, team player mentality, negotiation skills, self-motivation and a contributor attitude, etc.
- Ability to handle a fast-paced working environment, changing production demands

In this high visibility position, The Senior Buyer/Planner is responsible for the day-to-day management of the materials planning and buying to support the company's production needs and sales plans in a timely and efficient manner.
Equally important, the incumbent will manage and optimize related inventory programs without negatively impacting production to gain the best use of working capital.
Essential Job Functions:o Accurate real-time inventory
