Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

I. POSITION OBJECTIVE

This position exists to supervise and lead a team of operators to maintain and operate the Utility units in an environmentally sound and safe manner to maximize production and minimize production costs.

Ensure that we train operators to handle all process situations and ensure that all jobs are done in a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health, and safety regulations and Company requirements.

II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

Shift Management:
Be accountable for each operator's safety assigned to me. Be accountable for any permit and OSHA violations for the safe operation of the Utility plants. To assure the complex has a safe and continuous supply of Power & Steam under all circumstances. To be accountable for process upsets and resolving the issues associated with those occurrences. Accountability for validating operator time records. Oversee and audit lockouts for maintenance work. Be responsible for the training of operators. Ensure the correct amounts of certified operators are scheduled for a shift. Must be able to handle personnel issues that arise on shift professionally and respectfully.

Manage and Lead:
Assign the operators to their areas of responsibility and monitor daily by reviewing the log sheets and checklists. Handle any conflicts, whether operational or personal, that develop. Be clear and precise in communications with operators and obtain feedback to ensure he/she understands the communication.

Operations:
Assess the Utilities unit operations by reviewing the log sheets, logbook notes, PI trends, and DCS readings.

Manage, solve, and /or recommend resolving discrepancies, deviations, and abnormalities by staying up to date and alert on the operational processes within Utilities.

Direct the proper operational steps during nights and weekends if a situation arises.

Facilitate the Fulfillment of Work Orders: Gather and collect the daily/weekly/monthly checklists and review for abnormalities. Flag abnormalities and relay them to the Operation Staff personnel (Day Supervisors / Managers) in the unit logbook. Attend the Operations meetings with the Maintenance group to go over the daily Maintenance items.

Staff Development:
Evaluate the contract operators from the Process Operator Program. Develop each individual's talents to the fullest, creating an environment that supports collaboration, cross-functional team, and information sharing.

THM:
Promote cleanliness and order through implementation of the Total House Keeping Management program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant like new condition.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
A. TECHNICAL JOB CRITERIA

  • Previous Related Experience Required
A minimum of five (5) years' experience in Operations as a Operator. Utility 1 & 3 experience preferred. Board Experience in Utility Operations preferred.

  • Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
  • Personal computer and applicable software including the ability to learn new systems that the company introduces.
  • Use of hand tools, gauges, indicators, operation of DCS and sample testing equipment.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good business writing ability.
