Body and Paint Technician

Department:
Department of Transportation - Fleet Management
Full-time, Hourly


Hourly Range:
$ $35.18/hr

Job Summary
The principal function of this position is to repair and paint damaged county owned vehicles and equipment.


Work Schedule:
Employee must have availability to work days, evenings, overtime and nights as needed.

Job Responsibilities

  • Remove and repair damaged fenders, hoods, quarter panels, doors, grills, and other body parts of different automotive, truck and equipment shapes and designs.
  • Replace window glass, door latches and other interior regulator as well as locking devices and straighten damaged frames.
  • Align front and rear end suspensions and refinish metal equipment & furniture
  • Perform fiberglass body repairs and perform minor welding.
  • Estimate collision repairs and determine if repairs can be done inhouse or must be sent out to an outside vendor.
  • Wire, setup and install various types of interior electronics equipment.
  • Respond as needed to all snow duty call outs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Use of Equipment, Tools and Machinery
  • Operate vehicles, trucks, mowers, forklifts, power tools, hand tools, paint sprayers, welders, and tools of the trade.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and carry 100 lbs.
Required Education, License/Certification and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • At least three (3) years or more work experience in the repairing, maintenance, and painting of automotive bodies and/or equipment required.
  • Basic knowledge in Diagnostic software and fleet work order system familiarity.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with wiring and the installation of electronics equipment preferred.
