BASIC
FUNCTION:


Responsible for coordinating the overall administration of a multi-institutional, multi-million-dollar National Institute of Undersea Vehicle Technology (NIUVT), funded by DoD.

Manage business and fiscal operations at URI as directed by the Co-Director and the Associate Director of NIUVT, including the supervision of any clerical support staff.

Serve as fiscal and administrative liaison to UConn, NUWC and EB, and all URI departments participating in the Institute. Develop protocols and systems to track all accounts and subcontracts. Organize meetings, workshops, and seminars. Coordinate the preparation of progress reports, grant renewals, and new grants.
Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL
DUTIES
AND

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Coordinate and oversee the fiscal administration of NIUVT, a multi-year, multimillion dollar, multi-institutional research network in Southern New England.

  • Serve as official liaison for NIUVT and assist in the informational technology events between URI and other NIUVT participants.
  • Coordinate and manage NIUVT subcontracts in collaboration with the business office of COE and the Office of Sponsored Projects.
  • Provide and interpret income and expense analysis for the NIUVT administrative budget and individual projects.
  • Prepare interim progress reports and supplemental grants and respond to reporting data calls as requested.
  • Coordinate and initiate the renewal and no cost extension process for the research projects.
  • Assist in all phases of proposal preparation and procurement activities.
  • Prepare correspondence to funding agencies as directed, both written documentation and verbal communication.
  • Develop protocols to monitor research grants and to predict future financial requirements.
  • Reconcile monthly financial statements using online Webbased financial reporting systems.
  • Assist in the preparation of scientific publications and technical reports.

Prepare and assist in all phases of domestic and foreign travel arrangements.

  • Organize and schedule meetings, seminars, and workshops.
  • Arrange meetings of the Governance Board and External Advisory Board.
  • Keep accurate records of meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Initiate and prepare various personnel action forms.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED:


  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2. Minimum of two years of business management experience.
  • 3. Minimum of one year of grant administration experience.
  • 4. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and electronic mail systems.
  • 5. Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver oral and written reports.
  • 6. Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • 7. Demonstrated ability to plan, communicate, and carry out large financial projects.
  • 8. Demonstrated ability to work in a fastpaced and complex environment.
  • 9. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communications skills.
  • 10. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
  • 11. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
    Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED:


  • 1. Minimum of three years of grant administration and/or business management experience in a research setting at a university, college, federal defense contractor, or government agency.
  • 2. Demonstrated experience in managing federal research grants and contracts, including budget preparation, income and expense analysis, proposal preparation.
