    Principal Data Engineer 1 with Western Alliance Bank (Phoenix, AZ)

    Job Description:

    Design, build and implement critical components of the enterprise data platform in accordance with the strategic data and analytics needs of the organization.

    Develop a cross-business unit data tier that is leveraged to improve products and deliver insights. Serve as a lead engineer in a high-performing centralized team of data engineers, data analysts and quality assurance engineers. Collaborate with enterprise architects to understand and implement solutions based on the recommended Azure Cloud data architecture and capabilities.

    Implement data engineering solutions that satisfy the full data lifecycle, including efficient technical resolutions and the use of Azure DevOps for the tactical implementation of the organization's data strategy and roadmap.

    Develop Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) and data pipeline capabilities that account for how data is created, transformed, stored, archived, analyzed and shared across the organization and its partners.

    Perform data exploration and data profiling. Implement built-in quality and compliance-by-design in all data solutions. Lead the implementation of outcomes, recommendations and designs from data governance and enterprise architecture. Actively participate in making data architecture decisions. Provide technical mentorship to engineering team members and other data professionals. Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to obtain an understanding of business requirements and operational processes. Implement methods to include unstructured data and big data.

    Requirements:
    Requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Requires 5 years of progressive, post-Bachelor's experience.

    Must have some experience in each of the following skills:
    RDBMS; SSIS; Query languages, including T-SQL, PL/SQL, or Spark SQL; Data engineering, specifically in Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) concepts and processes, enterprise data warehouse capabilities, and data principles; Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Services, and Azure DevOps to design, implement, and support Cloud data solutions; Design tools for conceptual architecture and data flow diagrams, including Lucidchart and Erwin; and Conceptual, logical, and physical data design
