    Description

    The Quality Engineering & Sustaining Manager provides the leadership necessary to establish and maintain product quality levels that meet and exceed our customer's expectations. This role is the voice of quality and a driver of continuous improvement across the organization, challenging all functions to elevate performance levels and achieve true operational excellence. The Quality Engineering & Sustaining Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, leadership, and management of quality and sustaining programs, processes, and initiatives while also serving to build & foster a cross functional culture of quality, compliance, and performance.

    Responsibilities & Requirements:

    • Manage and lead a team of Quality & Sustaining Engineers, ensuring that the department has the appropriate talent and performance levels to meet business objectives.
    • Provide mentorship, coaching, and direction in the application of quality engineering principles, practices, and tools to our product development and sustaining operations.
    • Provide and or oversee training, development, and upskilling initiatives as needed for engineering, manufacturing, and the supply base.
    • Manage quality & sustaining resource planning; Allocate resource assignments based on business needs and strategic focus
    • Oversee the quality function in ensuring conformance to design & quality standards for new product development as well as revisions to existing product.
    • Provide expert guidance and oversight to cross-functional teams on the proper deployment of quality tools and methods across design, validation, and manufacturing functions.
    • Provide technical leadership and coaching in the area of structured problem solving and the use of rapid learning loops and concurrent engineering in driving issues resolution.
    • Work across the organization to continuously improve our Quality Management System at an enterprise level; Utilize field data and analytics to establish and update design guidelines; Author and drive consensus on quality-related policies, initiatives, and strategies.
    • Lead coordination and collaboration with various departments to develop and implement quality-related policies, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
    • Identify & manage key quality metrics and performance indicators to ensure operational health and clear trajectory to business goals.
    • Develop, implement, and execute quality governance and auditing procedures to ensure operational standards are maintained across the organization.
    • Provide regular communications to Senior Leadership on quality performance, trends, risks and opportunities.
    • Must be willing to travel (minimum 10%).

    Education & Experience:

    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
    • 8+ years of experience in Quality Management with a proven track record of success.
    • 5 + years of leadership experience to guide and motivate a seasoned team.
    • Strong analytical, problem solving, and technical project leadership skills.
    • Strong digital literacy and familiarity with cloud-based data management tools and systems: (SAP and PowerBI, and Smartsheets experience is preferred)
    • Excellent communication (written and verbal) to collaborate effectively across departments.
    • A passion for quality and a commitment to continuous improvement methodologies (ASQ certification, Six Sigma a plus).
    • Proficiency in quality and engineering design principles, manufacturing processes, and compliance regulations.

    • Test Plan Development & Phased Validation Planning
    • GD&T, Process Validation & Statistical Process Control
    • DFM, DFA, Technical Design Review
