SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Timely collection of water meter data to ensure billing deadlines are consistently met.

Provide direct support to a customer service oriented culture by interacting with

customers and various departments to ensure resolution of any infrastructure and/or

customer needs.

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Daily Task and Customer Support


  • Read, install, replace, and reprogram meters as needed to support department
mission of timely and accurate meter reading for customer billing.


  • Maintain a professional appearance (uniform and vehicle).
  • Communicate and provide information to customers/customer service as
needed regarding water service status (incl. service orders, turn on/off service,

deliver customer notices, etc).


  • Prepare work order requests for installations, repairs, or maintenance to
address infrastructure and/or customer needs.


  • Communicates with Engineering, Customer Service, and Field Office
Departments as needed regarding customer related issues and concerns.


  • Assists Augusta Water customers to resolve questions and/or concerns about
their service.


  • Assign service location information (read sequences) and make
recommendations for improvements to efficiency.


  • Performs administrative tasks as needed to ensure clear documentation
pertaining to meter, customer, and technical issues.


  • Performs maintenance as required to maintain meter reading efficiency and
accuracy. This may include meter evaluation and testing, component

inspection repair and replacement, and pursuing warranty replacements.

Meter Program Support


  • Maintains a current knowledge of meter measurement and reading
technology through interaction with Engineering and Field Staff and outside

training and conferences.


  • Provide feedback to Supervisor regarding possible improves for efficiency and
cost controls.


  • Provides detailed information to Supervisor and/or Engineering, and Customer
Service Departments needed for statistical evaluation of meter equipment

reading and/or performance issues.


  • Provide support for meter testing activities as required in conjunction with
Engineering Department programs.


  • Collect meter data as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly works in outside weather conditions.
  • Subject to contact with liquid water, wastewater and vapors, hazardous
materials, and blood borne pathogens while performing duties. Occasional

exposure to dust, fumes, noise, and heights. Frequently exposed to extreme

heat/cold and uneven terrain.


  • Continuous sitting and driving a motor vehicle. Frequent sitting, standing,
walking, twisting, climbing, stooping/bending, kneeling, grasping, and driving.

Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds without assistance), carrying (up to 50

pounds without assistance), pushing, pulling, crawling, reaching, and repetitive

movements.


  • Required to work irregular schedules on an as needed basis, which includes
overtime, night duty, weekends, and holidays. Subject to call-in for emergency

assignments.
