Position Information:


Arlington County's Department of Human Services is seeking a
Clinic Aide to assist with providing services for the Behavioral Healthcare Division (BHD).

BHD provides outpatient psychiatric services including health and wellness assessments, education and targeted intervention to seriously mentally ill adults and their families.


This Clinic Aide will be responsible for assisting professional medical staff with providing services to clients by performing a variety of health/nutrition screening routines, conducting basic clinical routines, and administrative duties.

The individual will participate on an interdisciplinary outpatient treatment team focused on serving individuals with behavioral health and co-occurring medical disorders.

The treatment team consists of a physician, registered nurses, case managers, mental health therapists, and coordinated service providers.

Specific duties include:

  • Supporting nursing staff to monitor and track health assessment data;
  • Assisting clients for physical health treatment, other wellness interventions, and the coordination of medical and psychiatric care;
  • Supporting and coaching clients on how to access appropriate care;
  • Participating in the provision of outreach to highrisk clients in the psychiatric services program;
  • Aiding with other service providers, clients, and supportive collaterals at regular intervals as appropriate to client's treatment;
  • Providing information to client regarding other potential service providers/agencies and assist with linkage when indicated;
  • Documenting client records to meet local, state, federal and agency requirements;
  • Communicating with insurance companies for prior authorization medications; and
  • Supporting the Psychiatric clinic in collaboration with the Psychiatrist.

Selection Criteria:


Minimums:


Education:

Completion of the requirements for graduation from a standard high school or obtaining a GED certificate, or the equivalent.


Experience:
Some experience in providing direct human services in an area related to the particular assignment.


Substitution:

College coursework in a human services related field may be substitute for related work experience on a year for year basis.


  • Community or inpatient psychiatric experience to include: addictions, serious mental illness, chronic disease management, outpatient behavioral services;
  • CPR certification;
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Commonwealth of Virginia or by endorsement from another state to practice professional nursing; and/or
  • CMA (Certified Medical Assistant).

Special Requirements:


Certification:
Must possess CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.

A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted.

It may include checks of the following:
criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You may be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

Must complete pre-hire federal background check and State of Virginia Central Registry check.


Additional Information:


Work Hours:
Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, with one day 9:30 am-6:00 pm.

This position is funded with ongoing funds from DBDHS.
