- Education: The inspector will hold a BS in Engineering, an associate degree from a 2-year technical school, or a high school diploma (or equivalent) based on their experience and other factors.
- Desired: An individual who is already certified by the National Board and state, and capable of reviewing repairs in line with NBIC and FMIC requirements.
- Required: Candidates must meet the National Board In-Service commission qualification requirements (RCI-1 NB-263), pass the National Board Exam, and fulfill State requirements. They should obtain a National Board Commission and certification from at least one jurisdiction within 12 months of starting this position.
- Experience: The ideal candidate must meet the experience criteria outlined in the current National Board Rules for Commissioned Inspectors to obtain the initial National Board Inservice Commission (IS). Proficiency in boiler and pressure vessel construction, operation, and inspection, mechanical and electrical equipment, knowledge of management systems, and a good understanding of nondestructive methods and results are essential.
- Skills/Knowledge: In-depth technical expertise in boiler and pressure vessel construction and inspection, strong communication and listening skills, effective time management and organization, problem-solving abilities, basic computer application proficiency, and the capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively are key.

This role focuses on conducting jurisdictional inspections of boilers and pressure vessels in the Baltimore, MD area, particularly near Westminster, MD or Frederick, MD.
The Boiler Inspector (Jurisdictional Consultant) will learn and acquire the necessary skills to oversee, inspect, assess, and advise Clients. Inspections are carried out in compliance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors' Rules, The National Board Inspection Code, jurisdictional laws and regulations, as well as FM Global programs, procedures, and guidelines. The inspector will be under the supervision of the Operations Chief Inspector.
